Prayer for this weekend

Christina Rossetti wrote some beautiful poetry in her day, as well as many prayers and songs. Here is a prayer of hers that I have slightly modernised. Enjoy it and have a blessed day.

"O Lord, who is the shadow of a great rock in a weary land,

who notices your weak creatures,

weary of labour,

weary of pleasures,

weary of heart from hope deferred,

and weary of self.

In your abundant compassion

and unspeakable tenderness,

bring us, we pray, 

into your rest, 

through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen."
