God knows.

God speaks loudly to our bruised souls. He created us and he knows each one of us by name. God is the author and perfecter of our faith and our lives. God is LOVE. So, if God is all of these things & more, why shouldn't he draw alongside us and comfort us. Despite our best arguing, God knows what we need and he supplies us with the whole lot! This has been my experience in the last 7 days. God knew what I needed and he gave me rest. He spoke to my weary spirit and renewed my dependence on Him. He did not speak in the loud thunder or wild lightning - no, it was merely through the gentleness of wind, the waves washing on the shore and the laughter of family.
God you are good.
Life is born in your generous grace.

Day 3 onwards...

I leave tomorrow for a few days away - I can't tell you how much I need these precious moments. My commitment is to pray the 3 word prayer for the next 6 days. I will reflect on my 'surprises' when I get back to a computer. Yes, I will be 'sabbath-ing' from computers, cell-phones etc - oh No, how did we ever manage without these two inventions? Ah, the good old days!!!
Anyway I Look forward to hearing the whispers of God again.
Be Blessed.

Surprised by God - Day 2

Today has been another one of those hectic days, rushing from one place to the next. I am trying to avoid using the term 'busy' as that somehow conjures thoughts of life being out of control (well, at least for me). Today, has been filled with many things, most of them have been mundane/ordinary things, but since i started trying to pray 'Surprise me God' I have felt a greater degree of peace - even whilst doing the simple things of life. Perhaps it has a little to do with seeking God in the 'moments' that make up the day. So reflecting back on the day, God has been present in everything I have accomplished - there were times when I was aware of his presence more than others, but He was definitely there throughout the day. Thank you God for your eternal promise - "Never will I leave you; never will i forsake you."

Surprised by God - day 1

So i took up the challenge to be 'Surprised by God' today and guess what - "He surprised me!" It was through two very uncomplicated events, but certainly God directed them. I think that just by praying the 3 word prayer it has heighted my awareness of what God could be saying to me or doing through me. Surely our daily walk with Jesus should include this sense of anticipation. God desires to speak to us everyday.
So if you are keen to join me then pray the prayer tomorrow - 'Surprise me God!'

Surprise me God!

I am sharing on Sunday about Jesus being the 'God of Surprises.' In my reading I have come across a book by Terry Esau called 'Surprise me God!' It is actually a 30-day Faith experiment, where he challenges himself to pray these 3 words for 30 days - "SURPRISE ME GOD!" Now, there is a thought! Perhaps we will all live with an increased awareness of the miracles of Jesus and of the truth that he wants to burst into our world with marvellous revelation. When we reckon that we have God all figured out or we assume that he won't reveal himself in a certain way, then I fear that we have become numb to the God of Surprises. I am not always good at doing these 30 or 40 day challenges, but why don't you join me in praying this prayer today... 'Surprise me God!'
Waiting on you Jesus,
Living in your Grace.

Increase or Decrease?

So your boss comes into your office and asks you this question: "We have to review your salary. Would you like an Increase or a Decrease?" In your mind you are thinking "Dah, is this guy for real? Increase of course..." When it comes to worshipping Jesus, do we choose increase or decrease? John the baptist is asked if he is jealous that Jesus is taking over the ministry from him (John 3) - John is not phased in the least. His reply is this: "He (Jesus) must increase, but I must decrease!" (John 3:30) Lord, may that be our attitude when it comes to serving you. We live in this incredible Grace because of Your great love for us. You must be Greater - I must be less!

Limitless Grace

"In the cross is an ocean of love yet unrevealed, a mountain of power still unleashed, and a sea of truth not yet fathomed ... there is something utterly exhaustless about the provisions of Calvary." - S. Franklin Logsdon.
So here is a thought for this Easter Weekend - let's swim in the ocean of God's love - climb the mountain of His power and consider the sea of His truth. Whilst the rest of the world takes a long weekend, let the Christ-followers ponder the Limitless Grace of our Saviour.

The Cross

Firstly, let me apologise for my 'depressing' post the other day - things were getting me down and I used this platform to vent - sorry again.
We are in the middle of Holy Week now and of course we are confronted again with the mystery and power of the Cross. I want to share some words from Alister McGrath. He says: "The very existence of the crucified Christ, forces us to make a crucial decision: Will we look for God somewhere else, or will we make the cross, and the crucified Christ, the basis of our thought about God?" Wow, that is challenging. As for me - I choose NOT to look for God elsewhere. God is so real through the power of the CROSS - why would we want to look elsewhere?
Fight the Good Fight of Faith my friends.

Screaming!

I'm screaming - can you hear me? What, you can't hear me? ... Can you hear me NOW? Of course you can't hear me - silly me - for a moment there I thought that my words may have reached your ears. By the way, there are a few of you curious people who want to know why I am screaming, don't you? I am screaming because of 'People.' Not just any 'people', but 'people' who call themselves BELIEVERS, CHRIST-FOLLOWERS & CHRISTIANS. I have seen enough evidence this passed week of why many unchurched people don't want to step inside a Church - it is because of 'people!' It is no wonder that Jeremiah wrote in Jeremiah 17:9 – “The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?” Don't worry about me I will survive my disappointment in 'people.' We should rather be worrying about those potential Christ-followers who have been damaged by the witness they have seen. Lord, have mercy on all of us - we are sinners in need of your Grace! Friends, live in Grace, but please let's hold people accountable to the witness they profess.

Catch me!

Not sure if you have ever had a dream where you are falling and falling? I remember having a dream like that once - it was not a great dream! As believers we go through many experiences where we feel as if we are 'falling' and we wonder if there is a rescue plan! Thankfully, we know that God is our rescuer. Listen to what Deuteronomy 33:27 has to say - "The Eternal God is your refuge and underneath are the everlasting arms." God offers to be our safety net - His mighty arms are able to stop us from smashing into the ground at 300km/h. Thanks Lord for catching me.
