The title itself is captivating ... "A million miles in a thousand years!" ... and reading the book is even more interesting. This book by Donald Miller has certainly challenged me on many fronts. While there are some parts of the book that are "unconventional" and I don't necessarily agree with them all, I do love the way Miller gets people to think about our lives.
Donald Miller writes this book while he starts to do some 'editing' of his own life. He starts to realise that the 'story' he is telling with his life isn't necessarily the best and so he begins to ask himself some important questions. I found his honesty refreshing and his take on God to be full of grace. He tells some moving stories in the book and each page has something worthwhile to chew on.
For me, one of the challenges I am left with is to live a remarkable 'story'. God gives us the chance to live one life and we get to choose whether we do this for Him or not. Sometimes we are just afraid or too tired to want to live a better life.
"We don't want to be characters in a story because characters have to move and breathe and face conflict with courage." - Donald Miller
May we find that the presence of God is with us today, urging us to live in His grace.
