Ideal leadership

Max De Pree wrote, "The first responsibility of a leader is to define reality. The last is to say thank you. In between the two, the leader must become a servant and a debtor."

John 13:14 - "Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another's feet."

Are we able to define the 'reality' of the situation?; are we able to say 'thanks'?; are we able to serve one another?. If we answer 'Yes' to all 3 questions, then Max and Jesus would call us 'leaders.'

I have a sense of ambivalence about this post. Yes and no. What I miss is the aspect of faith, which I would think is more important than the aspect of imitation. Christ the Object of faith vs. Christ the model. Or as one professor put it, Christ vs. Jesus: http://www.gtu.edu/news-events/events/lectures-and-addresses/distinguished-faculty-lectures/DFL%20Response-Marty%20Stortz%2011.13.07.doc/view?searchterm=stortz
