When Jacob encountered God at Bethel, he was amazed at this experience. The bible records this comment from Jacob,
"When Jacob awoke from his sleep, he thought, "Surely the LORD is in this place, and I was not aware of it." He was afraid and said, "How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God; this is the gate of heaven." - Genesis 28:16-17
How often does it happen to us that we find God in the most unexpected places? Where suddenly we become aware of the whisper of the Spirit, reminding us that God is present.
The next time you are in a place, where you least expect to experience God, remind yourself that God is not confined to our expectations or parameters.
Prayer: Lord, please teach me to be more aware of your life-giving presence. Help me to notice you more in the everyday things that I am involved in.
