As much as I am enjoying re-reading the Imitation of Christ, I recognise the massive influence of other people on Thomas a Kempis. He was influenced by other Christians in his community, the Bible, philosophers and Church teachers. His thoughts for today include similar sentiments to those of Saint Augustine. Augustine - "You have created us for yourself and our hearts are restless until they find their rest in you."
Thomas a Kempis - "I will never be content until my heart is devoted above all else to you."
