Not sure if you have ever played Tug-O-War? We used to have an inter-house version at School and it got very competitive. Sometimes kids play it on a camp or even on an adventure camp. When you grip the rope and pull as hard as you can, your hands can start to slip. You realise that you haven't got the best grip, so you need to make a quick decision - do you let go, in order to get a better hold of the rope? It is often better to do this, rather than pull without much impact.
So, the same goes with faith. It may be good for us, just to take a 'sabbath' rest, in order to get a better grip on life and faith. It doesn't mean we become lazy and let go without thinking - rather we let go, in order to be more effective in the long term.
Is this you today?
Hebrews 12:12-13 - So take a new grip with your tired hands and strengthen your weak knees. Mark out a straight path for your feet so that those who are weak and lame will not fall but become strong.
May God's grace sustain you today
