When Royalty makes an announcement people usually take notice. There only 43 countries that still have ruling Monarchs, but I think we all understand the concept of Royal families and the influence they have had on our history.
When Jesus spoke to the crowds in his Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7), his words were like a 'Royal Announcement' of sorts. The words he shared were his Kingdom Manifesto - they were to offer comfort and courage to all who felt excluded from religious communities, but still desperately searched for God. He came to pronounce that the Kingdom of God was indeed available for anyone willing to surrender to God.
"The worst mistake we can make is to think that this amazing passage is a set of rules that we now need to make sure we complete. It is not like this at all. Rather, it is like a Royal announcement that God is turning the world upside down." (Tom Wright)
Over the next few weeks, I am going to be reflecting on the Beatitudes on Sunday's and I will touch on a few points in these blogs too. If you would like to watch the first of our sermon series, you can click onto this link: Beatitudes Part 1.
Thanks again for your constant support of this ministry.
