Anxiety

When I first read this next quote I wasn't sure how I truly felt about it. Initially I was indignant, but then I thought about it a bit more and recognised some of the profound truth in it.

"Anxiety is the mark of spiritual immaturity." - Thomas Merton

Is this what Jesus was getting at when he remarked:

Matthew 6:25 -  “That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear.

And also the apostle Paul....

Philippians 4:6 - Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. 

Does my anxiety reveal my lack of trust in Jesus to "be in all things of my life?" Does it reveal a side of spirituality that I refuse to acknowledge? Tough to ask myself these questions, but important to be honest.
