When Ezra wrote these words he was speaking about a particular incident in the life of Israel and how "in spite" of their disobedience there was still some Hope for them. Thankfully God is merciful and was willing to forgive their sin.
What are you going through at the moment, that could be your "In spite of?" What I mean is, if you read that verse again, but added in your context, would it still be a word of encouragement for you?
"In spite of ____________, there is still hope for me!"
