Cellphone companies are constantly trying to improve the battery life on their devices. The longer your battery life the happier you will be! And yet, despite all of this fuss about battery life, you and I will still need to plug our phones into the socket, in order to charge our phones. No matter whether your current phone lasts a day or even two days, the batteries all need a recharge at some point.
And so the same applies to us. Why we think we can run for days and weeks on end, without allowing ourselves the chance to 'recharge' is beyond me. We need to recognise when our emotional and spiritual batteries are running flat and then to recharge. If we want to be effective in the long run, we need to look after our personal 'battery life.'
Matthew 11:28-30 - Come to me, all who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
If you have some good ideas on how to recharge your spiritual lives then please share them in the comments section of this post. Thanks and God bless.

Shattered
I had the misfortune of dropping my phone the other day and to my dismay I noticed that my screen had shattered (almost like the one in the attached photo). I know that I am not the only one to have had this bad luck, but it does leave you with a sick feeling, don't you agree?
The word "shattered" comes up in the bible in a few places, but the one that strikes me the most is from Matthew 21: 42-44 - "Jesus said, “Right—and you can read it for yourselves in your Bibles: The stone the masons threw out is now the cornerstone. This is God’s work; we rub our eyes, we can hardly believe it! “This is the way it is with you. God’s kingdom will be taken back from you and handed over to a people who will live out a kingdom life. Whoever stumbles on this Stone gets shattered; whoever the Stone falls on gets smashed.” (The Message)
I don't believe that it is God's desire to 'smash' us, but in this passage Jesus is referring to the fact that God's Kingdom is much stronger than the works of man. If it was a straight battle between God and humanity, we all know who would end up broken. Thankfully, God's grace invites us to belong to Christ's Kingdom, no matter how fragile we feel.
Question: Are we building our own kingdoms or are we striving to live in God's Kingdom?

Life Apps
Modern language includes the term 'App', which stands for 'application software' and usually refers to our computers or phone Apps. You download them onto your phone and use them to access a whole range of things. I am not sure what you have on your phones, but I have a number of Apps on my phone, including, Bible Apps, Sports Apps, WhatsApp, Flipboard, News, Games, Kindle, Twitter and so on.If I am honest, there are one or two apps that I have downloaded, but which I haven't used as yet. This is hugely ironic, I guess. If I download an 'App' then surely I should be using it - application would be helpful:)
Many Christians are in a similar place with the Bible and Prayer. We know that if we read the Bible more and prayed more frequently, we would feel more connected with God, but we don't. We don't apply our faith in anyway and then we end up feeling frustrated.
Is this you?
What is God wanting you to Apply in your life?
This Sunday Evening we start a preaching series called 'Life Apps' - looking at various Applications that would help us on the Christian journey. Check this out for more details - Life Apps.
