There is an old hymn that rings true for many of us today. In the third verse of What a Friend we have in Jesus, Joseph Scriven poses a question, which I know you will answer 'YES' to:
Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
So, if you are experiencing trials and temptations in your life today, I encourage you to take it to the Lord in prayer. Let's try and not be discouraged by the troubles that will come our way, but rather to seek the presence of God in these times.
The rest of the Hymn goes like this:
What a friend we have in Jesus
All our sins and griefs to bear
And what a privilege to carry
Everything to God in prayer.
All our sins and griefs to bear
And what a privilege to carry
Everything to God in prayer.
Oh, what peace we often forfeit
Oh, what needless pain we bear
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer.
Oh, what needless pain we bear
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful
Who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
May God hold you in the palm of his hand today.
