Phillips Brooks once remarked that "character may be manifested in the great moments, but it is made in the small ones."
I think that it is easier to pretend that you have it all together when the world is watching your "public" moments, but your true character and nature is revealed behind closed doors. In the small everyday moments our character is formed and in the long run this can't be faked. As Jesus remarked - "by their fruits you will recognize them."
