Motives

Proverbs 21:2 (With images) | Free love quotes, Proverbs 21, Proverbs

"We can justify our every deed, but God looks at our motives.

God is more pleased when we are just and fair than when we give him gifts." - Proverbs 21:2-3

I am challenged by the clear message of Proverbs, as each sentence is a direct word to our fragile hearts. The book of Proverbs helps me to look in the mirror and to be honest about my life and faith. There can be no hiding away from the Lord and from how the Spirit works in our lives.

David Brainerd - "The all-seeing eye of God beheld our deplorable state; infinite pity touched the heart of the Father of mercies; and infinite wisdom laid the plan of our recovery."

Francis Bacon - "A prudent question is one-half of wisdom."

When darkness overtakes you

Image result for light bursting in

"When darkness overtakes the godly, light will come bursting in..." - Psalm 112:4

As we reflect on this verse today there are 3 important things I have noticed:

1. Darkness comes to all of us. The Psalmist used the word - "when..." to describe this event, not 'If.'
2. Even the 'Godly" can be impacted by storms and dark times in our lives.
3. The great PROMISE is that the Light of Jesus Christ will come bursting in.

May you have a blessed day and please hold onto the promise of God.

Francis Bacon - "In order for the light to shine so brightly, the darkness must be present."

It is NOT ...

"It is not what people eat, but what they digest that makes them strong.
Now what we gain, but what we save that makes us rich;
not what we read, but what we remember that makes us learned;
not what we preach or pray,
but what we practice and believe that makes us true Christians." - Francis Bacon

Let us not lose focus of the truly important things in life. Life is often NOT what we think it is - hidden in the midst of our daily routine and activity is the whisper of God.

John 10:25-30 - Jesus answered, “I told you, but you don’t believe. Everything I have done has been authorized by my Father, actions that speak louder than words (Message).
