A.A.Milne and Winnie the Pooh

Image result for A.A.Milne quotes
A.A.Milne, the author of Winnie the Pooh was born on this day, the 18th January 1882. Every so often a book shapes the lives of millions of people and this is undoubtedly the case with Winnie the Pooh. Just for something different, I wanted to share a few of the famous quotes from A.A.Milne's books, many of them coming from Pooh himself.

Some people care too much - I think it is called Love.

If you live to be a hundred, I want to live to be a hundred minus one day so I never have to live without you.

Rivers know this: there is no hurry. We shall get there some day.

Promise me you'll never forget me because if I thought you would, I'd never leave.

This last quote reminded me of Jesus words to his disciples when he prepared to leave this earth. He promised to be with them ALWAYS (Matthew 28:20) - even though he was ascending into heaven, he was leaving the gift of the Holy Spirit.

For all you Winnie the Pooh fans, now it is time to go and find your own favourite quotes from the books :)

Happy Birthday

On the 28 June 1703 John Wesley was born. The influence of this man has been felt over the last 300 years and even despite his faults, Wesley left an incredible legacy for the Christian faith. To honour his birthday I want to share a few of his lesser known quotes with us today:

"Prayer is where the action is."

“Let your words be the genuine picture of your heart.”

“God grant that I may never live to be useless!”

"It cannot be that the people should grow in grace unless they give themselves to reading. A reading people will always be a knowing people. ”

May God bless you today

My boy turns 7

Declan turned 7 today. I can't believe how fast he is growing up. When he had just arrived on 'planet earth', many people said that we should savour every moment of his life, as before we realise it, he would have left home. To be honest, I didn't quite understand what they meant, but today I am slowly getting it!
In the blink of an eye, 7 years have passed by. He has grown from a tiny baby into a young boy and will soon be an independent young man.

My commitment is to enjoy every moment with him (and my other kids) and to realise how blessed I am. I will continue to pray the Aaronic blessing, from Numbers 6, over them daily. God will be a much better Father to them, than I could ever be, but I will continue to enjoy my privilege of 'fatherhood.'

May you enjoy every moment with your loved ones.
