Calvin's challenge

I am often inspired by the many men and women of faith who have gone before us. We live in a time when we need good Spiritual role models - one can't go wrong by looking at the courageous believers of the Reformation period. Reading about the life of John Calvin this week, I have been impacted by his desire to serve God with all he had. May you be blessed through some of his thoughts...

"There is no worse screen to block out the Spirit than confidence in our own intelligence.

“Let us not cease to do the utmost, that we may incessantly go forward in the way of the Lord; and let us not despair of the smallness of our accomplishments.”

“Build a man a fire and he will be warm for a day; set him on fire and he will be warm for the rest of his life.”

“We should ask God to increase our hope when it is small, awaken it when it is dormant, confirm it when it is wavering, strengthen it when it is weak, and raise it up when it is overthrown.”

May God speak to you through one of these quotes today.
