Royal Wedding

Apparently over 2 billion people will be watching the Royal Wedding on the 29th April. I have to admit I probably won't be glued to the T.V. watching, but I am intrigued by the whole event. It fascinates me that almost one third of the global population will be taken up by this wedding. I pray that Christ gets a real mention in the midst of the fanfare and ceremony.

Out of interest, the Scriptures speak of Royal Weddings taking place thousands of years ago.

Isaiah 61:10 -I delight greatly in the LORD; my soul rejoices in my God. For he has clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe of his righteousness, as a bridegroom adorns his head like a priest, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.

Isaiah 62:5 - As a young man marries a young woman, so will your Builder marry you; as a bridegroom rejoices over his bride, so will your God rejoice over you.

Let's not forget the the greatest 'Royal Wedding' is still to happen. When God (the Bridegroom)announces the special day, the Church (the Bride) will be celebrating the best wedding of all time. The whole world will watch this event with awe.

Revelation 19:7 - Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready.

Frailty of Life

I have been reminded again this week of the frailty of life. We spend so much time stressing about things that we believe are important, but at the end of the day ARE THEY REALLY? In truth, today we may be enjoying life, consumed by all kinds of things, but by this time next week we could be gone. Life is that short.

Jesus' disciples got to experience this first hand. One day they were laughing and eating with him, but within a week they had already buried him and were wondering what to do next. Thankfully for all of us, Jesus' resurrection breathes hope into our lives too. We will pass from this life one day, but a glorious inheritance with Christ awaits us.

"The life of mortals is like grass,
they flourish like a flower of the field;
the wind blows over it and it is gone,
and its place remembers it no more.
But from everlasting to everlasting
the LORD’s love is with those who fear him,
and his righteousness with their children’s children." — Psalm 103:15-17

Forgive the heavy sentiment today, but I just feel that we need to enjoy every moment God gives to us. Be blessed, my friends.

Clay and Potter

We often question whether God actually knows best. We don't see things working out as we hoped they would and we begin to worry. If you can relate to this, then know that we stand in a long line of believers who have wrestled with God's will. In the end, we have to trust in God as our 'Potter' - we are the clay and God wants to make something awesome out of our lives.

"But the pot he was shaping from the clay was marred in his hands; so the potter formed it into another pot, shaping it as seemed best to him." - Jeremiah 18:4

"Yet you, LORD, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand." - Isaiah 64:8

There is none like You

I am amazed at how our brains work! Today we were just relaxing enjoying Family Day when the words of a song came into my mind. I haven't sung this song for years, but it just popped into my mind - it's really weird. Anyway, these are the words of the song:

"There is none like You,
No one else can touch my heart like you do,
I could search for all eternity long,
and find there is none like you."

"Remember the former things, those of long ago; I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me." - Isaiah 46:9

A day of Hope

For me this Easter Sunday has reminded me of the incredible Hope we have in Jesus. Just when the disciples were the darkest time of their lives, Jesus miraculously rises from the grave. What a reminder that God is not predictable or controlled by human decisions. Our Lord has risen from the grave!

Remember that when we worship Jesus, we worship the Lord of Hope. Nothing is to difficult for God. Death, sin and guilt have been paid for on the cross and now we are invited to taste the sweet victory of the empty tomb.

Hebrews 6:18-19 – "God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope set before us may be greatly encouraged. We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. "

The Cross

Writing some thoughts about the Cross, Thomas a Kempis wrote:
"You can sure that if there had been a better way to humanity's salvation, Christ would have followed it. He plainly taught the bearing of the Cross. 'If anyone wants to come with me, he must forget himself, take up his cross every day, and follow me (Luke 9:23)'."

Thank you Jesus, for enduring the scorn of the Cross for my sake.
