Big enough?

Image result for Is your God Big enough?

Out of all the works of Christian Mystic Evelyn Underhill I love this quote the most:

“If God were small enough to be understood, He would not be big enough to be worshipped.”

Is it not true that in trying to reduce God to a size that will be manageable for us to understand, we slowly lose the magnificence of God's glory, power and might? If we want a God that is so small that he will fit into our tiny minds, then he would not be worth worshipping at all.

Psalm 99:1-3 (The Message)
"God rules. On your toes, everybody! He rules from his angel throne—take notice! God looms majestic in Zion, He towers in splendour over all the big names. Great and terrible your beauty: let everyone praise you! Holy. Yes, holy."

Here is another lovely message from Evelyn. Enjoy.

"God is much in the difficult home problems as in the times of quiet and prayer."

May you be blessed today.

Too small

"Dear, dear Corinthians, I can’t tell you how much I long for you to enter this wide-open, spacious life. We didn’t fence you in. The smallness you feel comes from within you. Your lives aren’t small, but you’re living them in a small way. I’m speaking as plainly as I can and with great affection. Open up your lives. Live openly and expansively!" - 2 Corinthians 6:11-13 (Message)

Let us not live 'small' lives.
Let us live lives that push the boundaries - lives that use all of God's power and greatness.
The more we live for God, the BIGGER our appreciation of God's grace and mercy.

Perhaps our frustration with our faith has a lot to do with what Paul refers to as 'our smallness' - our view of God that is too small and narrow-minded?
