We need time to recharge the motors!

With all of the latest load-shedding (in South Africa) I have noticed that our gate motors don't have the necessary time to recharge their batteries. Previously, it would have been fine, but now that we are on level 6 load-shedding, there is no time for them to get back to full power.

The obvious connection with our emotion and spiritual batteries is there for us to note. If we don't take the time to recharge our batteries, we will eventually come to a stand still. Jesus reminds us all of this important principal when he takes time to rest and recharge.

Matthew 14:23 - After he had dismissed them, he went up on a mountainside by himself to pray. Later that night, he was there alone...

4 - Never alone

There are so many different messages that come from the story of the Cross, but one that brings great consolation to many is this: Christ dies for us in order that we might be reunited with the Father. What Christ does for us on the Cross of Calvary is that he makes sure we are never alone again. Our sin doesn't need to separate us from the Father, nor from those around us.

"Two are better than one,
because they have a good return for their labour:
10 If either of them falls down,
one can help the other up.
But pity anyone who falls
and has no one to help them up.
11 Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm.
But how can one keep warm alone?
12 Though one may be overpowered,
    two can defend themselves.
A cord of three strands is not quickly broken." - Ecclesiastes 4:9-12

Prayer:
Thank you Lord for the grace found in the Cross. Thank you that through the saving work of Jesus I am never alone. My sin doesn't exclude me from your kingdom, because Jesus has paid the price for it all.

You are on your own!

If you decide to go through with that, then 'You are on your own!'
Have you ever caught yourself saying this to someone else or has anyone ever said that to you?
We get the gist of what is being said, but from a Christian perspective, it is interesting that God promises us something different.

"Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”- Matthew 28:20

“Do not be afraid, for I am with you and will bless you." - Genesis 26:24

"And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you." - John 14:16

When I make a commitment to follow Christ, these are the promises that I take with me. However, if I choose to walk a different path and to turn my back on God, then I guess I will need to make it on my own. Thankfully, God is just a prayer away - so when I come to the 'end of myself' I can still call out to him.
