The worst thing is not the last thing!

This is still one of my all-time favourite quotes:

May these words live with you throughout this week and beyond. Trust that with the grace of God, whatever you are facing at the moment, will not be the final word on the matter. Christ has overcome all things!

Time is short

 

"All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us." - JRR Tolkien

I have been sharing in a number of funerals of late and each time I hear the family tributes and eulogies I am reminded at how brief life is. We should make use of every moment we get from the Lord. Every breath is a gift to us from Jesus.

1 Peter 1:24 - "All people are like grass,
    and all their glory is like the flowers of the field;
the grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of the Lord endures forever.”

Heritage

From birth we don't get to choose our first names, surnames, place of birth or even if we will receive an inheritance or not. However, as we celebrate Heritage Day (24th September) in South Africa, let us remember that we do get to CHOOSE our new spiritual family and the future inheritance we receive in Jesus' name.

Deuteronomy 4:20 - But as for you, the Lord took you and brought you out of the iron-smelting furnace, out of Egypt, to be the people of his inheritance, as you now are.

 

"In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, ⁴ and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, ⁵ who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time." - 1 Peter 1:3-5
