Appreciation

Although we don't usually give women special gifts on National Women's Day, I feel that we can do even better than simply offering a material gift. We can pass on our deepest gratitude and appreciation for the Women in our lives and for the roles they play in our society. And this should never be done in a patriarchal, condescending spirit, but rather with the uttermost respect for each woman in our lives.

So, from my side: THANK YOU ladies. For all that you do to make our world a better place to live in.

Proverbs 31 (The Message) - The woman to be admired and praised is the woman who lives in the Fear-of-God. Give her everything she deserves! Adorn her life with praises!

“If you want something said, ask a man; if you want something done, ask a woman” – Margaret Thatcher

“A woman is like a tea bag – you never how strong she is until she gets in hot water” – Eleanor Roosevelt

One life is all we have

Joan of Arc - Death, Facts & Accomplishments - Biography

In this month of August, where we honour the women in our communities, I have chosen to share a few quotes from Joan of Arc, also known as the Maid of Orleans. She was a remarkable woman indeed and her complete loyalty to God cannot be denied. Although some of her ideas may have seemed a little strange, she was willing to live and die for Jesus. May these words inspire you today.

You say that you are my judge; I do not know if you are; but take good heed not to judge me ill, because you would put yourself in great peril.

Go forward bravely. Fear nothing. Trust in God; all will be well.

Every man gives his life for what he believes. Every woman gives her life for what she believes. Sometimes people believe in little or nothing, nevertheless they give up their lives to that little or nothing. One life is all we have, and we live it as we believe in living it, and then it's gone. But to surrender what you are, and live without belief - that's more terrible than dying - more terrible than dying young.

As you live your one life, offer it to Jesus.

Luke 13:23 (The Message) -  "Put your mind on your life with God. The way to life—to God!—is vigorous and requires your total attention."

Prayer for Women's Month

Image result for prayer for women's
As August is a time for us to celebrate the significant women in our communities I wanted to share this prayer that I found. It was on the following website.  If you find it helpful please share with others.

Lord, make me an instrument of peace:

Bless all women who daily strive to bring peace to their communities, their homes and their hearts. Give them strength to continue to turn swords into ploughshares.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love:
We pray for all women who face prejudice, inequality and gender disparities. Help us to see and to face the discrimination against women in all the many forms it may take.

Where there is injury, pardon:

Comfort all women who suffer from the pain of war, violence, and abuse. Help them to become instruments of their own reconciliation and peace.

Where there is division, unity:

Forgive all women and men who let differences breed hate and discrimination. Let your example of valuing all of creation help us to see that we are equal partners in the stewardship of your world.

Where there is darkness, light; where there is untruth, truth:

Comfort all women who struggle in the darkness of abuse, poverty, and loneliness. May we stand with them in light to acknowledge their suffering and strive to remove the burdens of shame or embarrassment.

Where there is doubt, true faith:

We pray for all women who live in fear of their husbands, fathers, and forces that control their lives. Help them to be empowered to be their true selves through your everlasting love and faith.

Where there is despair, hope:

We pray for all women who live in the despair of poverty, violence, trafficking, slavery, and abuse. May the light of your love bring them hope.

Where there is sadness, new joy:

Help us to see the strength and goodness in all women and men.
Transform our hearts to celebrate the love and grace of all people. Amen

Have a blessed day.
