"So let us not sleepwalk through life like those others. Let us keep our eyes open and be smart." - 1 Thessalonians 5 (Message)
It can be quite unnerving to see a family member sleepwalk into your room. We have seen the kids do this once or twice over the years - it is weird! What is interesting is that nearly 30% of all people are impacted by sleepwalking, although it seems to decrease the older one gets. Anyway, I digress - here is my point:
When you ask a 'sleepwalker' if they remember doing this, almost everyone says they have no recollection of the experience. If we are going to 'sleepwalk' though LIFE then we are not going to remember all the experiences that come with this gift. I know that some experiences are tough, but there are many amazing gifts that God gives to us.
Paul urges us to keep our eyes open and to be smart - this is sound advice. What do you think?

Open my eyes to see
"Open my eyes to see the wonderful truths in your instructions." - Psalm 119:18
God's word is not meant to be cryptic. God gains nothing from making us confused through his word. Sure, there are many parts that need some interpretation or a deeper understanding of the context of the day, but God's Message is plain for us to heed. It is in His word that he seeks to offer us advice and direction.
"Your laws please me; they give me wise advice." - v.24
So, as you approach the beauty of God's word today, pray the simple prayer of David:
"Open my eyes to see..."
May God's love shine through the pages of his scriptures, so that we may understand them clearly.

Opening our eyes
Recently we had a few days holiday at the coast - it was wonderful to have the break (and 'YES' it did rain again!) Anyway, one of the awesome things we got to do was to snorkel in some little rock pools. My observation with snorkeling is that you have no clue how beautiful the ocean is, until you put you head under the water. As soon as you push your head under the water a whole new world opens up before your eyes. It is amazing to see all the fish and creatures under water.
It can be the same with God, faith and the Scriptures. We have no clue how awesome and inspiring our Faith can be, until we push ourselves to go deeper. It is only when we go below the surface that our eyes are opened to a whole new world.
Psalm 119:18 - "Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your law."
May you and I be willing to go deeper with God today.
