God is not making it too difficult

"Now what I am commanding you today is not too difficult for you or beyond your reach. It is not up in heaven, so that you have to ask, “Who will ascend into heaven to get it and proclaim it to us so we may obey it?” Nor is it beyond the sea, so that you have to ask, “Who will cross the sea to get it and proclaim it to us so we may obey it?” No, the word is very near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart so you may obey it." - Deuteronomy 30:11-14

Sometimes we may think that God is playing a game with us and that somehow we are always on the back foot. However, today's reading reminds me that God is not asking us something that is too difficult for us. God wants us to "succeed" in walking with Him and the Word is given to us as a source of guidance and Life.

Do you feel that God makes it hard for you to follow him?

I am writing this on Ascension Day and one of the truths of this special occasion reminds me that Jesus Christ is praying for us all the time. That doesn't give me the impression that God wants me to fail.

Sitting on your hands

[ To Be Mature ] In light of all this, here’s what I want you to do. While I’m locked up here, a prisoner for the Master, I want you to get out there and walk—better yet, run!—on the road God called you to travel. I don’t want any of you sitting around on your hands. I don’t want anyone strolling off, down some path that goes nowhere. And mark that you do this with humility and discipline—not in fits and starts, but steadily, pouring yourselves out for each other in acts of love, alert at noticing differences and quick at mending fences.- Ephesians 4:2-3 (Message)

As you read this wonderful passage from Paul's letter to the church in Ephesus, what strikes you?

Here are a few of the stand out things for me today:

1. Do I spend time sitting on my hands?
2. Don't take paths that lead nowhere.
3. Humility and discipline are key ingredients along the journey.
4. Pouring ourselves out in acts of love.
5. Be quick to mend broken fences.

I would love to hear from you - send me a message. God bless.

Celtic Prayer

"Let us GO forth
In the goodness of our merciful Father
In the gentleness of our brother Jesus
In the radiance of His Holy Spirit
In the faith of the apostles
In the joyful praise of the angels
In the holiness of the saints
In the courage of the martyrs." - Celtic Prayer

Isaiah 9:2 - The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned.

Walking with God

“A person who walks with God always gets to their destination.” - Henrietta C. Mears

This simple quote can be mislead us into thinking that the path to our destination is going to be easy, BUT it doesn't say that at all. What it does tell us is that when we choose to walk the journey with Jesus, we will end up at our destination - the underlying assumption is that God will help us reach the end goal.

I needed this reminder today. How about you?

Micah 6:8 - He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.
