Gather up courage

We can gather up eggs...
We can gather up rocks...
We can gather up wheat ...
We can gather up broken glass...
We can gather up a whole lot of things, but have you ever heard of 'Gathering up COURAGE'?

“Joseph of Arimathea came, a prominent member of the council, who himself was waiting for the kingdom of God, and he GATHERED UP COURAGE and went in before Pilate, and asked for the body of Jesus.” – Mark 15:43 (NASB)

You may be facing a situation at the moment where you feel a little uneasy or afraid - so perhaps you need to 'gather up your courage.' I believe that we can ask Jesus to help us in these situations and that He can give us the courage we need. Why don't you try - what have you got to lose?

Ezekiel 22:14 -Will your courage endure or your hands be strong in the day I deal with you? I the Lord have spoken, and I will do it.

In God I trust

"In God I trust and am not afraid!"

These are the words of David, spoken in a time when he was facing many obstacles in his life. I think they are spoken as words of promise and courage. When we are confront with trials and tribulations the easiest thing to do is turn and run. But, David had experienced God's deliverance on numerous occasions and so he reaches back into his memory and speaks a bold word of promise:

Psalm 56:3-4 -"When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.
In God, whose word I praise –
in God I trust and am not afraid.

What can mere mortals do to me?"

I encourage us to do the same. Speak boldly into the situation that lies before you and trust in God's hand of deliverance.
